LG K510 - New Release

The now familar smooth-fronted slide phone design as introduced to us through the likes of the Samsung E900 and LG Chocolate has a definite influence in the design of the LG KF510, it certainly looks the part with it's shiny sleek finish and animated touch-panel.

Delving into the statistics, the KF510 is a well featured phone with a 3 Megapixel Flash Camera with Autofocus, fairly large 2.2 inch QVGA quality screen, EDGE technology for data transmission, FM and MP3 support and a memory slot for up to 2GB micro SD cards.

While perhaps maybe not a groundbreaking phone, the LG KF510 has a distinct feel of a phone well designed. With the slide-down buttons that you can actually feel, unlike full-touchscreen phones and features like the environmental-light sensor for saving battery whilst maintaining good visibility, the KF510 doesn't just look flash, it's user friendly and functional.

All in all, a very good value phone that combines functionality with looks, the LG KF510 is likely to do well.

Vodafone Release The Samsung F490

Samsung's new model the F490 joins their lineup of top-end 5-Megapixel camera phones whilst pulling off the now classic iPhone look with a 3.2 inch full touchscreen display. To combat the lack of feel most touchscreens suffer from, the Samsung F490's Croix interface provides Haptic Feedback, tactile feedback through vibration allowing you to feel as your finger moves over the buttons on the screen.

Supporting both the HSDPA standard for 3G and fall-back EDGE standard for 2.5G networks, the Samsung F490 provides fast network data speeds for mobile broadband web surfing. For local transfers, say to a friend's mobile or your home PC the F490 provides the now common Bluetooth 2.0 wireless and USB 2.0 wired connection standards, and its 130MB internal memory can be supplemented with microSD cards of up to 2GB in size.

Obviously landing itself in the iPhone arena, the F490 is a good contender and worth considering when weighing up the pros and cons. Not quite as slick in use maybe but the haptic-feedback, 2.5 times higher camera resolution and much lower price are not to be ignored.
